Respectful Maternity Care

Pregnancy and childbirth are momentous events in the lives of women and families. However, this joyous moment can be turned in to a nightmare if they do not receive a good quality care around the time of childbirth. Women expect empathy, support, trust, confidence, and empowerment, as well as gentle, respectful, and effective communication that enable them in informed decision making. Unfortunately, too many women experience abusive and disrespectful care around the time of child birth. When mothers experience negative birth experience, it ultimately leads to poor outcomes. This module aims to educate and empower the caregivers in order to provide a patient centered, and respectful maternity care which can provide all pregnant women a positive birth experience.
